The Board accept checks, money orders, Debit, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. To pay with debit or credit card, please use the Credit/Debit Card Payment Authorization Form.

The application process takes on average four to eight weeks; however, each application is different. Please keep in mind that information required for licensure comes from the applicant and various outside organizations.

An applicant who meets all the requirements for licensure, except the Board of Certification (BOC) examination, is eligible for a temporary permit. Only one temporary permit may be issued to a person and expires six months after the date of issuance. To receive a temporary permit, applicants must apply for one, and pay an additional $25 nonrefundable fee.

Wallet cards are emailed after the license has been issued and can be accessed anytime in the online portal.

All Athletic Trainer licenses expire on December 31st; the license must be renewed annually.

The renewal cycle for Athletic Trainers begins October 15th and ends December 31st each calendar year. To renew, login to the online portal during the renewal cycle.

The late renewal cycle is from December 1st - December 31st. There is an additional late fee.

On January 1st, the license status will be Cancelled – Failure to Renew. Athletic Trainers who practice while their license is cancelled may subject to disciplinary action.

The Athletic Trainer will need to complete the reinstatement application and pay the associated reinstatement fee(s). Depending on the circumstances, reinstatement may require additional testing, training, or education as the board deems necessary.

Athletic Trainers may request to change their license status at the time of renewal, or to change a license type outside of the renewal cycle, a Designation/Type Change Form can be completed. Additional documents and fees may be required, depending on the license type.
